Check this out guys - V.S. Narasimhan playing an astonishingly beautiful peace with his quartet. This is really unbelievable because the music is Indian but he has combined this with the western classical style:

I heard earlier V.S.Narasimhan has long stopped taking classes...he only does give some sessions with music lovers and close musicians....

When enquired came the truth that .......though he was very active as a teacher quite some time back , now he only teaches this prodigious violinist Athira.

Anyway the talented little chip of this master block has already started making headlines in India & abroad...............Athira is the most discussed news of Madras music Industry right now!!

Hats off to versatile master disciple duo of V.S.Narasimhan & L.Athira.

I believe since hearing from you guys on violin wizard V.S.Narasimhan , it must be mentioned that I recently happened to listen to one very young girl playing a South Indian Classical Violin Concert in the Jazz Meets Classics Festival in Germany . I think she was at her best with the violin!

There was swaying crowd for her concerts and everyone was literally stunned with her mastery and virtuosity on the instrument . Later I came to know she was also a student of Western Classical Violin under Mr.V.S.Narasimhan!

I felt great about this master and disciple.
Indeed Indian Music in the years to come will be glorified with this matchless prodigy's nimble fingers!

anTi: That would be the Karuppur College in Salem. Or as some would call it, GCE- Salem.
Many, including me, have fallen prey to the lure of alley cricket. I gave up Carnatic lessons after a year, cos' I thought I needed to work more on my square cut. I was an idiot.
And if I were you, I'd re-establish contact with someone like V.S.Narasimhan. :)

Manoj.. saw ur comment about Harmony 97 on my blog... can I ask you which college were you in?
And btw.. saw ur (?) on Kaps blog about Rayil Sneham.. V.S.Narasimhan was a family friend (we seem to have lost touch now) through his father who taught me to play the violin when i was like 5 or 6 years old. Sadly that did not go too far, because of a combination of my violin lessons clashing with the time all the other kids playing cricket...I regret not paying attention to it now.. To think I have had a total of 5 or 9 years of lessons spread over 10 years, broken by change of locations/teachers. And I can't claim to have learnt much!

Thanks for the niceties. I would post more, but then nothing interesting happens in a 8 hour workday as opposed to a 30 minute auto ride that provides easy fodder for a 3000 word post. And I agree about all the negativity projected about auto-drivers. I actually had more auto-accounts to write about, but then chose brevity(!) over a really drawn out borologue.
