Viola & some…

I lurk around mp3 blogs and acquire all the free music I can (and some of them are awesome!), but ’twas a strange path I took to get to Fredo Viola…via Anil Dash’s blog. But I’m glad I got there and some of you will too. This has got to be the most innovative video I’ve seen in a long time. The song by itself might sound tiresome, but after having seen the video, it’ll be on my next compilation disc.

The video was created entirely using 15 second jpg movies from my little Nikon Coolpix 775 still camera, reconstructed in AfterEffects.

While I’m plugging obscure artistes….

How about some actual viola sounds accompanying a beautiful female voice? Piney Gir’s K.I.S.S.I.N.G from Listen! - Americana.

I’ve been seeing their name on a few blogs now. Soft might not have an unique sound ( I can think of Ambulance Ltd. in the recent past), but their single, Droppin’ is easy on the ears.

Off the topic..have become a regular reader of ur blog. When everyone around is seen with this Google Adsense..hoping to rake in some money..your site doesn’t have anything…Did you not care? or intentionally decided to make ur site an ad free zone?

I don’t think Adsense is a bad idea, especially if you run your own domain (blog or other) and get tonnes of traffic. After all, bandwidth does cost money and not everyone can shell out the big bucks. But working towards getting tonnes of traffic is not something I aspire to. I think it takes the fun out of blogging. Expert opinion might differ, but that’s my take on it.

Karthik & I live 5 minutes apart, but we still decided to get into blogging cos’ he wanted to write & share his love for books, and I wanted to share mine for music - links, reviews et al. So yeah, if it turns out that by some miracle, I end up attracting shitloads of traffic for writing about what I like, then I’ll think about increasing the clutter on my page. But as my sitemeter stats indicate, that’s not likely for a very long time :), so until then Adsense can adorn other blogs…I’ll be content in doing this for myself and my “select audience”, which probably includes just you for now. So thanks, dude! :)

  3. Minor Scale » (The Band) Soft - New Single ‘Higher’ Says:

[…] This is not in any way a mp3 blog, but if plugging the music of upcoming bands means I get emails from band-members who send me music samples, and good ones at that, then I’m all for it. :) The band in question is Soft, who I previously mentioned once here. I’m no music guru, but I think I know an extremely catchy song when I hear one. Their latest single Higher is just that. Don’t go finding a genre to fit the song into, just play it loud enough for the guitars to resonate in your head and the tune to stick to your lips. […]
